Privacy Policy — Keywords Highlighter Last updated: 24 October 2026

Keywords Highlighter does not collect, sell, or share any personal data. Nothing is sent to us or to any third party.

What the extension stores The keywords, categories, colors, settings, theme preference, optional site allowlist, the list of sites where you turn the extension off, the link to a shared keyword list (if you connect one), the position of the Ticket check panel, and a short list of tickets you have already reviewed are saved using Chrome's local storage (chrome.storage.local) on your own device. This data never leaves your browser, except through Chrome Sync if you turn on the optional "Sync categories across devices" setting, which uses your own Google account.

What the extension accesses To highlight keywords, the extension reads the text content of pages you visit. This reading happens entirely within your browser, in real time, solely to apply highlights and show alerts. Page content is never recorded, stored, or transmitted. Card numbers and CVV codes found by the card data detector are shown masked (only the last four digits of a card) and are never stored in full.

Network requests the extension makes The extension makes only these requests, and only when you use the related feature: • Shared keyword list: if you enter a link to a shared list (Google Sheet, CSV or JSON), the extension downloads that list when you connect it and then every 30 minutes. For a Google Sheet shared only within your organisation, the request uses the Google account you are signed in to in Chrome, exactly as if you opened the sheet yourself. Nothing is uploaded. • Zendesk: on Zendesk ticket pages, the extension reads the ticket's comments and requester through Zendesk's own API on your Zendesk domain, using your existing Zendesk session. This is used only to tell customer messages apart from agent replies and to notice e-mail addresses that differ from the requester's. The data is used only for the on-screen alert and panel; it is not stored or sent anywhere else. There are no other network requests: no analytics, no tracking, no advertising.

Permissions • Host access to all sites (<all_urls>) — required so highlighting can run on the pages you choose (any site, the domains in your allowlist, or all sites except the ones you turn off), to download the shared keyword list from the link you enter, and to read ticket comments on Zendesk through your own session. • scripting — used to apply the highlighter to tabs that were already open when the extension was installed or updated. • storage — used to save your keywords and settings locally. • contextMenus — adds "Add to Keywords Highlighter" to the right-click menu for selected text. • alarms — re-checks your shared keyword list every 30 minutes so updates arrive automatically.

Third parties None. The extension contains no analytics, no tracking, and no advertising, and sends no data to the developer or any third party. The only services it contacts are the ones you choose: the shared list link you enter and your own Zendesk account.

Data deletion Removing your stored data is as simple as uninstalling the extension or using the in-extension reset option. Uninstalling clears all locally stored data. If you turned on the optional sync setting, turn it off before uninstalling, or clear the extension's data in your Chrome sync settings.
